This season, adidas and Yohji Yamamoto continue Y-3’s pioneering exploration of athletic-wear and boundary pushing design as they once again present a collection of performance running pieces.
Defined by a commitment to advancing the pinnacle of the Three Stripes’ running innovation through Yohji Yamamoto’s inimitable lens, the collection features Y-3’s take on two groundbreaking adidas footwear silhouettes. First, the Y-3 ADIOS PRO 4 reimagines adidas’ record smashing runner, designed for world class athletes and goal oriented runners alike, in three seasonal colorways: dark gray, off-white, and blue that carry mismatched color executions on the stripes Next, the Y-3 ADIOS 9 takes the core elements of the race-ready silhouette and recontextualizes the look in three colorways: dark gray, off-white, and green with each shoe also carrying mismatched color executions on the stripes.
A considered take on performance-ready gear, the selection of men’s and women’s apparel pieces includes tees, running jackets, tanks, shorts, and leggings, and arrives in two differing palettes: all black – in homage to Yohji Yamamoto’s origins – and an all over print that connects the capsule back to the spirit of the Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Here, the principle of aeration is also brought to the fore as power mesh inserts on jackets, tanks, and shirts, offer greater ventilation while running. Each piece is then finished with reflective Y-3 branding.
Staying true to the Y-3 ethos, the collection is brought to life with a campaign starring record breaking marathon runner Tigst Assefa in her home nation of Ethiopia. Shot by Francis Plummer, and alternating between an intimate interview, recorded on site in Addis Ababa, and visceral shots of Assefa running through the country’s awe inspiring landscape, the striking visuals tell the compelling story of the quiet trailblazer as she prepares to break barriers once again.
